At the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), Current’s Wanderers, the master’s thesis of interaction design student Massimo Bordogna, invites visitors into the hidden world of plankton. Created in collaboration with a dedicated group of enthusiasts – us, the project aims to share the beauty and importance of these microscopic organisms with a wider audience.
The exhibition combines multiple formats: a research-driven book, a 20-minute documentary based on interviews with Marta and Steffi, and striking microscopy images and prints that reveal plankton’s intricate forms.
Its centerpiece is an immersive installation that transforms real-time data from our underwater microscope into flowing digital visuals. Visitors can interact with these drifting organisms using tactile gloves.
Blending science, art, and interaction design, Current’s Wanderers offers a compelling, sensory experience that makes the invisible world of plankton both accessible and deeply engaging.
Visit the exhibition at ZHdK (5.K09 (Galerie 2)) until 26.06.26. Open daily from 12.00 – 20.00. More info here and here.
